The United Nations General Assembly declared March 20 "International day of happiness"
"Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness. Our interpretation of physical fitness is the attainment & maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind, fully capable of naturally, easily & satisfactorily performing our many & varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest & pleasure"
When we are happy, we are better able & more inclined to improve other's lives, our communities & the World. For this reason alone it just makes sense that we're forever on the pursuit of happiness, but why do we tend to over complicate our quest for eternal sunshine?
The irony is that the more things we think we need to have, do or be to quench our thirst for glee, the more stressed, sick & miserable we become.
The reality is that YOU already have the greatest & most simple method of turning your frown upside down (short spine on the reformer... ; P ) right at your fingertips!
You can thank serotonin for that delightful post exercise euphoria. This "Happy Chemical" flows through us when movement stimulates the parts of our nervous system involved in it's production.
And guess what?!
When you're happy, you're more likely to be enthusiastic and excited about exercising, perpetuating the luscious cycle
Move your body ---> Stimulate your nervous system to produce
serotonin ---> Feel happy! ---> Move your body
So, the next time you need a "happiness hit" - move your body, and enjoy that sweet, sweet serotonin surge.
